Outburn Magazine, 1998 Issue #5 Live Reviews Full Blown Kirk @ Peabody's Down Under Cleveland, OH 10.3.97Now and then, a band comes along which has the potential to mark a new standard in creating a "sound" that the music industry begins to emulate. Full Blown Kirk is an unknown band from Kent, Ohio which has that potential. Backed by skilled artists and fronted by two of the most talented and alluring girls I have ever seen, I was utterly consumed by their presence, their ability, and their charm. Combining the evanescent harmony of Miranda Sex Garden and Dead Can Dance with the grooves and driving beats of Skinny Puppy and Nitzer Ebb, this group stands poised to seduce and ravage all who listen. Upon the stage that night, I witnessed musicians who are exploring, expanding and enveloping a sound so mystical and diverse that it could appeal to everyone from punkers to goths to your grandmother. Within their performance, I saw no weakness. The only flaw any of their material possesses is that the songs must eventually end, instead of flowing on and washing over you for eternity in their blissful euphoria. ~ Eric Muss-Barnes Images/Design © Teresa Kiplinger, 1997. |
